The Canadian Friends of the 18th Biennale of Sydney
The Biennale of Sydney is the largest contemporary visual arts event in the Southern Hemisphere and amongst the largest in the world. Since its first exhibition in 1973, the Biennale has grown exponentially and is now recognized as one of the most highly esteemed art exhibitions in the world; promoting cultural development, raising world-wide interest in contemporary art, and showcasing art that promotes expressive innovation, analytical reflection, and a unique participatory experience.
The Canadian Friends of the 18th Sydney Biennale support Canadian artists being shown at the Biennale of Sydney. These are artists who are creating some of the most thought-provoking works; others are on the leading edge of a new thinking about art-architecture; some express the essence of our country; while others engage visitors physically and emotionally. The Canadian Friends are proud to showcase these Canadian works in the most preeminent of public exhibitions at the 18th Sydney Biennale 2012.
